My Punker runs great, it's just too clunky and fragile to pack under the rear seat of a VW Westy. I only use Capt Phab's Marine denatured alcohol (it's available in gallons also) and it runs great in it and my Optimus 45A. The 45A runs like crap blowing out the flame on anything but dead simmer when I use Methyl alcohol. Stan
Yes, "mineral spirits" has nothing to do with the alcohol issue. It works well in kero stoves, though...
Ah, that would make sense Ken. Same nipple as the kero then. Duane PS: I've heard mention of that brand many times, must only be available close to the border on in Canada.
I have had this issue with my no 5 with the 209 burner. The symptoms were flame erratic and going out. I tried the cleaning check seals pressure etc. I looked at another 209burner to compare and noticed through multiple cleanings the small punch in dimples on the bottom mushroom cap were my issue. I punched back the impressions and its burned solid since
A few pics to the above mentioned stoves. Just got the 22 alky last Spring a winter project to paint the case. My 45A and the 22 on the green denatured alcohol. The right burner is tilted a little, something to fix. Funny, the two burner Punker does a very good job, just slow to adjust the flame. Duane
'Time to adjust' may have to do with the distance between the burner and the valve being longer than on the 22. Nice stove Duane.
